Spring in Nukula

Spring is the time of increasing light, blooming life and sounds of creeks melting. Sun comes out and joyfully reveals old dusty places shining in our eyes. Days become filled with butterflies, glory of flowers, smells and all-around greenness. There will also be mosquitos, momentary dirty boots and green grass inviting us to walk barefoot.

The old people used to say:” Christmas has its own special date, and Midsummer has taken its

days in July, but White Sunday and Easter throw or slam their dates repeatedly.” Easter is a holy spring ceremony.  At that time, we enjoy boiled eggs and traditional Finnish Easter dessert made from rye flour.

The wait for summer claims your mind. You will celebrate Mother’s Day, new graduates and why not the first lilies, butterflies, or birds. When does your spring begin, and when does it change to summer.

It’s nice to know!

Spring begins when the average daily temperature remains over 0 degrees Celsius. This is when it it technically spring. That is also shortest of our seasons, lasting only the time when average temperature its between 0 and 10 C. Statistically that means March, April, and July.
